The Ticket 93.7 is a new FM sports radio station that needed a brand identity for it' s launch in the summer of 2011. The challenge was creating a memorable sports orientated mark that seamlessly incorporated all of the various identification needs that radio stations need. Pickering’s solution was to create an icon that connects to the unmatched excitement of going to the big game. The winning design played off of a ticket concept with a nostalgic feel associated with classic sports team memorabilia. The logo captures the feeling of anxiously holding on to the ticket of your favorite sporting event. A collegiate font was used to give a nod to the sports format of the station, while adding perspective and shadowing, created dimension.
In addition to the logo design, an identity kit was created to strengthen and spread the new brand. One important aspect was to find creative avenues to use the ticket icon in print form. Business cards were designed in booklets with a perforated edge for tearing out individual cards just like they do at the real game. The letterhead design further enforces the sports theme with a subtly placed picture of a roaring crowd in the background.
