Pickering Creative Group recently launched Sampson Construction’s newly developed website. Sampson Construction, a leader in the commercial construction industry for the past 59 years, partnered with Pickering Creative Group to develop a website to offer a long-term web solution that is consistent with the quality of work the organization produces. The site — www.Sampson-Construction.com — features more than 100 categorized projects, which are staged in a visually attractive rotating presentation-style format. The site was developed with the Drupal content management system (CMS), allowing Sampson to assure content remains fresh and relevant.
“The new site has features that take it beyond a typical informational website, which will serve as a valuable tool for developing new business,” stated the Sampson Construction team. Considering the end-user’s needs, Sampson Construction worked with the Pickering team to develop a site that allows users to search based on criteria such as project names and features, and to grant quick access to project galleries with project descriptions.
Large format slideshow
When you’re in the business of large construction projects, you need an appropriate venue to showcase the finished product. Pickering created an extra large format slideshow on the homepage to display Sampson Construction’s project pictures. The 1400 px wide slideshow maximizes screen size usage for larger format monitors while still working effectively for more standard size monitors.
Project Explorer
During the planning phase, one aspect that became quite important was the idea/concept of having an intuitive interface for browsing projects. Pickering’s solution was a Project Explorer section that would be accessible on every page of the site. The Project Explorer features a tab that lets visitors expand or collapse the section to access searching options such as project name, features, and keywords searches.
Project Gallery
Visitors searching the site’s project gallery will find large thumbnail preview images and detailed descriptions to create a rich browsing experience.
Project Gallery Sections
The Gallery was grouped into sections to create a more specialized approach to Sampson’s various areas of experience. By default, the gallery periodically rotates through the individual projects, adding a level of interactivity and intuitiveness to the site.
Individual Projects
Individual Projects include a large format viewing window and thumbnail pictures of additional photos. A project description is included below the project’s section. Additionally, visitors can learn about project details and easily share the project on a variety of social media sites.
Individual Gallery Pictures
As visitors delve deeper into the site, they’ll reach individual projects and the photo galleries that accompany them. Individual thumbnails allow for quick referencing of pictures.
Social Media Integration
In order to maximize exposure for the site and company, social media was integrated and is always just a mouse click away. Visitors can quickly share a project on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Delicious. Additionally, email and printing capabilities were also nestled in with each icon group.
Rich Content Footer
A large site such as Sampson Construction benefits greatly from a rich-content footer. Here crucial links and information are housed together to give visitors a second avenue to locate content. A small office slider was included to allow visitors a quick reference for contact information for the various locations. Rich content footers act like food for Search Engines and help with overall SEO.
Project Delivery Page
A Project Delivery Methods page was established to allow visitors a chance to learn more about the methods employed. An accordion menu houses the information in a concise user-friendly format. Additionally, many of the site pages feature a truncated news section of current happenings.
News Section
An active company like Sampson Construction typically has a lot of newsworthy events taking place. Creating an intuitive news section was the perfect way to house the various events and press releases.
Office Locations Page
As a regional player in the construction business, it was important for Sampson Construction to display all office locations. Visitors will find individual office locations highlighted while also being able to access contact forms for each location.
