The Lincoln, Nebraska, chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) has elected Pickering’s own, Scott Claypool, art director, to join the organization’s board of directors. Serving as the Prisms Vice President, Claypool is responsible, along with Michaella Kumke of Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, for planning and implementing the 2012 Prism Awards Ceremony.
Pickering was instrumental in directing the branding for the 2011 Prism awards. When asked about his involvement on the Lincoln AMA board and Prisms, Claypool said, “I am grateful for the opportunity to work with so many talented and passionate people. Lincoln AMA has already given me so many professional development opportunities, I am looking forward to what this year has in store.”
Claypool went on to discuss what he loves about marketing, “Getting my hands dirty and creating the 'look and feel' of a brand. Being a designer isn't an 8-5 job. Designers by nature constantly dissect every design they see, from billboard ads to menus at restaurants. Marketing and design is everywhere and I'm very lucky to do what I do, and I challenge myself daily. I love to engage people about their opinions on design. My 10-year-old daughter now critiques a cereal box with the best of them.”
